The “Research and Technological Development” Incentive System provides support for projects of companies that are in co-development with other companies or other entities of the R&I System, aiming at strengthening their competitiveness and international insertion through carrying out industrial research and experimental development activities.
The co-development projects are carried out in partnership between companies or between them and non-corporate entities of the R&I System, and led by companies, comprising industrial research and experimental development activities, leading to the creation of new products, processes or systems or the introduction of significant improvements in existing products, processes or systems.
Notice 12/SI/2020 was published, concerning the opening of applications for R&D projects in co-development, in the framework of the system of Incentives for Research and Technological Development (SI RDT), relating to the research collaboration programme between national and European Companies and Polytechnic Institutions.
The projects submitted must be exclusively carried out in the co-development modality and led by national companies, in partnership with non-business entities in the Education System, namely Polytechnic Institutes.
It intends to give national companies the role of network and collaborative projects dynamisers, with the support of Portuguese R&D institutions and taking advantage of the experience and knowledge of the North American universities. The objective is to build a model in which national companies lead the modernisation process of the economic fabric, reinforcing the innovation ecosystem in Portugal.
