ANI intends to distinguish and reward R&D and innovation in Portugal. In addition to the Born from Knowledge programme, ANI distinguishes the best academic papers on innovation in the Portuguese economy, as well as the best articles or journalistic articles on R&D and innovation.
National Innovation Journalism Award
ANI promoted the National Innovation Journalism Award, with the purpose of valuing and disseminating journalistic works focusing on innovation “Made in Portugal”.
This award intended to recognise journalistic pieces focusing on innovation promoted by companies or other national innovation system players, in the areas of innovation policies and R&D activities, innovation activities, new products processes and services, organisational change, transfer of technology and valuing science and technology-based knowledge.

The National Innovation Journalism Award is promoted under the SIAC - Knowledge Transfer Initiative, co-financed by COMPETE 2020, through Portugal 2020 and the European Regional Development Fund.
Portuguese Economy Innovation Award
ANI intends to give visibility to the academic-based research carried out in Portugal on innovation and innovation policy, as well as to support the work that contributes to the dissemination of innovations originating in companies and national R&D entities.
In this way, ANI and the Office of Strategy and Studies of the Ministry of Economy (OSS) intend to reward the scientific articles that contribute to the identification of problems and to the implementation of economic policy solutions in Portugal in the areas of Knowledge Based Innovation, namely valuing and Transfer of Technology, Collaborative Innovation and Technology-Based Entrepreneurship.
The first edition of this Award was launched in 2017. The winners of this edition were announced on the 27th of February of the same year, in a session that took place at the University of Aveiro. The winning works were:
For 2019, the invitation to submit scientific articles was launched under the theme “R&D and Innovation in the Digital Economy”, in the scope of the 2nd edition of the Portuguese Economy Innovation Award.
