Born from Knowledge (BfK) is a programme which values scientific and technological knowledge promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, through ANI.

 

BfK intends to:

  • Giving visibility to the relevance of investment in Science and Research and Development (R&D) and its economic impact by promoting, disseminating and rewarding good practices and success stories (including previously generated knowledge);
  • To increase the percentage of scientific and technological knowledge that is applied in Innovation, contributing to the transformation of the business fabric and generating economic and social impact;
  • To generate and promote scientific and technological employment, both in existing enterprises and organisations, and through the creation of new knowledge-based enterprises;
  • Promote a culture and practices of Open Science and Innovation;
  • Acting in the relevant areas and roles, articulating a complete and integrated set of support (financial and training).

BfK Rise

BfK Ideas looks for the best business idea from each Portuguese Higher Education Institution (HEI), aimed at creating products, processes or services that are 'born from knowledge'. All of the ideas have the possibility to benefit from an immersion programme and represent their institution in a national contest

The contest awards the business ideas of students and researchers of Higher Education Institutions (HEI), which result from R&D activities or the scientific and/or technological knowledge of its developers.

BfK Awards recognise 'born from knowledge' projects and companies, namely those that stand out the most in collaborative Research & Development (R&D) activities. This is a distinction awarded by the Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI) in one of the most prestigious innovation contests and/or awards in Portugal.

 

 

 

 

BFK Rise is a Science and Technology Acceleration Programme to valorise the results of Research & Development (R&D) and existing technologies in the National Scientific and Technological System (SCTN) with commercialisation potential. Over 3 months, BfK Rise offers intensive monitoring and training to teams with science and technology based projects.
