The standards manual is a document that defines the proper use of the image of an entity, organization or even a product. These rules are usually applied to several graphic elements, such as the logo, signatures, lettering, colors and symbols. In normal cases a standards manual must explain:

  • The construction of the logo (relationships between the different elements);
  • The minimum dimensions to be respected in order to ensure that the logo is kept legible;
  • The colors used in the logo, the color systems that are used (PANTONE) and alternative systems (CMYK), including digital systems (RGB and Hexadecimal);
  • Behavior of the logo on colored backgrounds and in black and white, as well as on photographic backgrounds;
  • The font(s) used for the different graphic media, created in order to guarantee the uniform nature of the institution's communication.
